Role of Media and Communal Harmony

Universal Knowledge Trust (UKT) organised a progrmme on "Eid Milan" Role of Media and Communal Harmony in Gandhi Peace Foundation, ITO, New Delhi on 13th October 2008. Selected media persons attended the programme which started at 11:00 am and finished at around 03:00 pm. The President of UKT Mr. Abdul Rashid Agwan started the programme with his speach. He was worried about the role of media in targeting Muslims specially highly educated Muslims while reporting on Terrorism. He also said that after freedom the first terrorist attack was on Mahatma Gandhi, we all should know that how that incident was happened.

Mr. Adil Khan of Gyan Darshan Channel expressed his views that all work which is related to media is like holy work. Gandhi, Godhra and Gujarat's famous writer said that we have to fight from all the people who are kattarpanthi otherwise we will not be in peace & harmony. His complain is that media is favouring negative things instead of positive.

News 24 channel's reoprter MR. Saeed Ansari said that we have to focus sensitive matters doing fact finding. Mr. Shams of Sahara Samay and other prominent personalities attend the pgoramme.

The programme was chaired by Mr. Irshad Farooqui, Secretary, Sufi Hamiduddin Farooqui Foundation. The programme finished after lunch.
