SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY 2007-2008

The Scholarship Award Ceremony of Universal Knowledge Trust for distributing scholarships of the academic session 2007-08 was held on 20 January 2008 at Nehru House, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Mr Khwaja M. Shahid, Joint Secretary, Union Public Service Commission was the Chief Guest of the function whereas Mr Sidheeq Hasan, Vice-President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind chaired the event. 31 students have been selected for renewal and new selection in the session belonging to 8 different states of the country. Out of these awardees 2 are perusing Certificate Courses, 26 Diplomas and 3 PG Diploma/PG Professional Courses.

The Ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Verses by a student Mr Mohd. Ishtiyaq Ahmad, followed by the Welcome Address of Mr Abdul Rashid Agwan, the President of Universal Knowledge Trust. In this address, he reminded regarding the lost glory of the community as an enlightened and learned people. He shed light on the objective and need of the Professional Scholarship Programme of the UKT, which is unique in the country in the sense that no other organization and even the government department has paid attention to promoting short term professional courses stressed by the Trust in its right earnest. He motivated the participants by quoting several Ayats and Ahadith for excelling in the process of learning since it is a sort of obligatory responsibility of human beings.

The Chief Guest Mr Khwaja Shahid stressed that the object of education remains to be making good human beings and it should not go out of the sight of both the educators and learners. He went on to say that the scenario of education is fast changing and in order to progress with other communities the Muslims should also make their utmost efforts and change in attitude. According to the learned speaker the students should acquire both the academic knowledge and skill and practical abilities since the present day market forces would absorb only such professionals who can really perform and deliver the desired service. He appreciated the scheme of the UKT as an unparallelled work in the field of educational promotion.

 

 


Transfer of Benefits to A Girl

Mr Sidheeq Hasan inspired the students for participating in the community development activities since in spite of some good NGOs in the field there is need for thousands more to bring the community out of its present day morass. He said that the beneficiaries should take full advantage of their financial assistance extended by the UKT for the development of abilities and qualities to serve humanity at large in a better and effective way.

 

 


Transfer of Benefits to A Boy

At the end of bracing lectures of the honorable guests, the students received their scholarship cheques. The amount of scholarship approved by the Trust for Certificate Courses is Rs 5000, for Diploma Courses Rs 7500 and for PG Diplomas Rs 10,000 per annum.

Apart from recipients, trustees of the UKT and several representatives of the Muslim NGOs participated in the function.
